Consultant (September 2024 - Present)
Center for Racial Justice in Education (CRJE), Bronx, NY
I lead mixed-methods equity studies that generate detailed, actionable reports to help schools understand how inequities manifest in their environments and how to create more inclusive, supportive climates. My work spans qualitative inquiry, quantitative analysis, and capacity-building with school communities.
Lead qualitative research by designing and facilitating focus groups with students, families, educators, and school leaders to explore how inequity shows up in school contexts, how it is currently addressed, and how school communities believe it should be addressed.
Develop and administer large-scale surveys measuring students’, families', educators’, and families’ experiences with school climate, inclusion, and equity.
Manage and analyze complex datasets from dozens of schools, including tens of thousands of responses.
Clean, organize, and prepare data for analysis.
Conduct statistical analyses—including descriptive statistics, means comparisons, and ANOVAs—primarily using R.
Design qualitative protocols and code, analyze, and synthesize data from focus groups with students, teachers, and administrators to identify patterns in experiences of inequity and opportunities for improvement.
Produce comprehensive equity reports that:
Highlight existing school efforts to promote equity and inclusion.
Identify gaps and systemic challenges.
Provide concrete, actionable, and context-specific recommendations for improving school climate and equity practices.
Present findings to school and district leaders, including principals, vice principals, superintendents, deans, and leadership teams, to inform decision-making and guide implementation of equity-focused strategies.
Support on-the-ground equity initiatives by:
Hosting affinity groups for teachers to foster reflection, professional support, and community.
Facilitating sessions with school leadership teams to interpret data, understand root causes of inequity, and develop targeted action plans.
Leading interactive student workshops focused on the power of language, identity, and how language shapes inclusive school climates.
